CNN’s Manu Raju: Paul Ryan Presenting ‘a More Nuanced View of Trade’ on Campaign Trail

Raju88

Monday in an appearance on CNN from Pleasant Prairie, WI, CNN senior political reporter Manu Raju noted a change in tone with House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), who appeared in his district on the eve of the Republican primary in Wisconsin, where he will face congressional hopeful Paul Nehlen for his party’s nod.

“[S]o clearly a more nuanced view of trade and probably a recognition of sorts from Ryan that this anti-trade rhetoric that we’re hearing on the campaign trail does have some resonance particularly in blue-collar areas of the state and states that have been hit hard by trade and by, frankly, the economy. But afterwards, Brooke, assuming Ryan wins, he and Sen. Mitch McConnell will both be aggressively raising money for their House and Senate incumbents in this election cycle frankly worried about the prospects of their majority, particularly if Donald Trump’s standing continues to decline, Brooke.”
