Man Arrested for Kidnapping Store Clerk

Per ABC 13, Los Angeles police arrested a man armed with a hammer suspected of kidnapping a convenience store clerk Wednesday.

LAPD officers responded to a silent alarm at the store Wednesday afternoon, and learned upon arrival that the suspect kidnapped a female clerk.

Jose Eduardo Gaxiola Caro, armed with a hammer, grabbed the victim and dragged her out of the store, forcing her into his car outside.

Caro, 29, then reportedly took the clerk to a cemetery, where she was able to escape. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.

The suspect was captured later Wednesday night after a short pursuit and crash.

According to police, Caro had been stalking the woman and trying to find out where she lives after she told him she was not interested in a relationship with him. He even made threats to her family members.
