Dem Rep and Hillary Supporter Holmes Norton: Deplorables Line ‘Maybe the Worst Line I’ve Ever Heard In Politics’

On Monday’s edition of “The Bill Press Show,” Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), who has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, called Clinton’s deplorables line “maybe the worst line I’ve ever heard in politics.”

Holmes Norton said, “Whoever wrote the deplorables line — by the way, she read that line, about half of somebody’s supporters being deplorables, was maybe the worst line I’ve ever heard in politics. You never — I mean, even when you’re running against a bunch of racists, you never take off against the voters. It was a politics 101 foible.”

Holmes Norton added that when Clinton talked about the line in the previous night’s debate, she claimed that she was talking about Trump, not his supporters, which would have been a better way to word the line “in the first place.”
