Sanders: I Don’t Agree With Argument That Many or Most Trump Supporters Are Bigoted

During an interview on the “Bernie Sanders in Trump Country” special of MSNBC’s “All In” on Monday, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) disagreed with the contention that President-Elect Donald Trump won because “most of — or many of his supporters are sexist or are racists or are homophobes.”

Sanders agreed with host Chris Hayes that Trump violated certain taboos about how we talk about certain people, but added, “I think some of that is unfortunate, because I happen to believe, one of the arguments as to why Trump won is to believe that most of — or many of his supporters are sexist or are racists or are homophobes. I happen not to believe that’s the case.”
