Dem Sen Casey: ‘Alarming’ Trump Is Using Twitter For Nuclear Policy

Friday on MSNBC while discussing President-elect Donald Trump’s Thursday tweet saying the U.S. needs to “expand its nuclear capability,” and MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski reporting this morning that Trump told her, “Let it be an arms race,” Sen Bob Casey (D-PA) said, “I think it is alarming that the president-elect used this form to get a message out.”

Casey said, “I was surprised, as I think many people were in both parties, because if there is one subject that you should not tweet about cavalierly or even in terms of a short message, it is nuclear capability and nuclear weapons. We have to be deliberate and we have got to be smart and we have to be prepared. Not only to protect the country but to do it in a way to use some discretion before you comment on this. I think it is alarming that the president-elect used this form to get a message out.”
