Frum to Left-Wing Protesters: Push for ‘Independent Commision’ Headed By Madeleine Albright, Michael Chertoff to Investigate Russia Hacking

Monday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” political commentator David Frum, who said he still lines up on the right side of the political spectrum particularly on fiscal issues, told fill-in host Ari Melber that the protesting left should narrow down their push to two things: President Donald Trump’s taxes and an investigation into the Russian hacking into the 2016 presidential election.

Heading up that investigation into Russian hacking he argued could be a “commission” led on a bipartisan basis by former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who announced on Twitter last month her willingness to register as a Muslim in defiance of Trump’s policies.

“What I would be beseech those who want to do something constructive — focus on two asks,” Frum said. “Where other movements in the past like ‘Occupy Wall Street’ fell apart, is they had 900 asks. If you have 900, you have none. There are only two and Neera [Tanden] said it very well. The Treasury should release the president’s tax returns and that that should be a law. And there should be an independent commission to headed by competent intelligence professionals — I’d nominate Madeleine Albright and Michael Chertoff to do an independent investigation with subpoena power of what happened in the 2016 election. Ask those two things. That’s enough. And don’t be distracted by anything else.”
