Gowdy: If Wiretaps Happened, There Will be a Paper Trail

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” while discussing President Donald Trump’s tweets accusing the former Obama administration of wiretapping Trump Tower prior to the election, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said if there was indeed wiretapping, “There’s a paper trail and we’ll be able to find it out.”

Gowdy said, “I don’t view it as the Obama team. I don’t think the FBI is the Obama team and I don’t think the men and women who are career prosecutors at DOJ belong to any team other than for a blind-folded woman holding a set of scales. We have the tools that this country needs to keep us safe and it’s prudent for those tools to be used lawfully and appropriately. If they’re not used lawfully and appropriately there’s a paper trail and we’ll be able to find it out. The Obama team is no longer in charge so any information the current department of justice has that suggests the previous team acted inappropriately they’re welcome to release it.”
