Fournier: Dems Should ‘Demand’ to Know What Rice Did, GOP Should ‘Demand’ to Know if Trump Played ‘Footsie’ with Russia

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Crain’s Detroit Business Publisher and Editor Ron Fournier argued, “Democrats should demand and want to know” whether their party was involved in “undermining” civil liberties with the Susan Rice unmasking story and Republicans should “demand” to know “whether Trump’s team was playing footsie with Russians.”

Fournier said, “Look, we have two stories that are connected, with hypocrisy all around. It — Democrats should demand and want to know whether or not their party was involved in undermining civil [liberties]. Republicans should demand to want to know whether their party, whether their president, whether Trump’s team was playing footsie with Russians. And until partisans in this country hold their party accountable, we’re not going to get anywhere.”

He later added, “[T]hey [the Obama administration] had all kinds of evidence that there was connections between the Trump people and the Russians. So, there could have been a legitimate reason to look into this incidental surveillance, but that’s why we need to find out what really happened. And we can’t be assuming nothing happened, and we shouldn’t be over hyperventilating, and assuming that there was corruption here. Let’s have an independent investigation to both these stories, because they’re obviously connected.”
