Dan Rather: Trump’s ‘Outrageous’ Tweets Not Behavior Worthy of a President

Dan Rather

On Monday night’s broadcast of “CNN Tonight,” while discussing President Donald Trump’s tweets criticizing London Mayor Sadiq Khan, former CBS “Evening News” anchor Dan Rather declared Trump’s tweeting is behavior “unworthy of a president of the United States.”

Rather said, ‘It’s outrageous and this is not in keeping with the tone, spirit, and substance that the overwhelming majority of the American people expect of their president, any president. I have every reason to believe that many, many people who voted for Donald Trump and still support him would shake their heads at this and say, ‘I wish he wouldn’t do this.’ Because this is not a reflection — the British are a great people. They’ve been our allies for a long time. They’re under pressure at the moment, under extreme pressure and fooling around with these tweets and taking out personal vengeance on people—this is unworthy of a president of the United States.”
