On Monday’s “Mark Levin Show,” Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) elaborated on his decision to oppose moving forward on the Senate GOP healthcare bill by arguing Republicans should push for complete repeal and stated the party has walked away from numerous promises on Obamacare.

Lee said that the bill “is not what the American people want. This is not what they expect. It’s not what they deserve.” He added that the bill doesn’t go “far enough” in delivering “real, meaningful” reform for people who have been negatively impacted by Obamacare.

He further stated that when people voted for Republicans, they expected “full repeal of Obamacare. That’s what we ought to be doing.” Lee continued that he doesn’t believe it’s either “perfection or nothing.”

He continued that he doesn’t see what the current bill does to undo Obamacare’s “deadly consequences” and that “[W]e’ve walked away, steadily, from all kinds of promises. This bill no longer repeals all of Obamacare’s taxes. I think that’s troubling. This bill no longer relieves people of some of the most significant burdens, regulatorily speaking, from Obamacare, that have made the cost of health care go sky-high. And we can do better, but the American people have to demand it.”
