Monday’s “First Take” opened Monday discussing the weekend’s protests in Charlottesville, VA that turned violent.

Co-host Max Kellerman said if any good comes out of the protests, it will be that it changes people’s opinions on Colin Kaepernick and his national anthem protests from the 2016 NFL season, adding the “hope” is that Kaepernick will get a job as a result.

“If there is any good to come out of this tragedy in Virginia, it is that it may serve as a wake-up call to many and maybe there’s a sea change in terms of people’s opinions about the seriousness of the race problem in America today. So in the global view of the Kaepernick situation, to answer the question ‘Will this affect the way people view Colin Kaepernick?’ is, yes, it will. And you hope it affects it enough that he gets a job in the NFL, in fact, and people realize he is protesting real things.”
