Surveillance video caught the terrifying moment a 17-year-old California girl was attacked by a man wielding a hatchet and dragged into her home.
Per NBC Los Angeles, the girl was outside of her house Saturday with the family dog when a woman came up to her claiming she needed help finding her own dog.
During the conversation, a man with a mask and hatchet then approached. The girl took off towards her front door. The man wrestled her inside the home as the woman and another man quickly followed.
“He grabbed a mask and pulled it down in front of his face,” the victim’s sister told NBC Los Angeles. “They had a hatchet to her face when they had her in a headlock.”
In the video, a man wearing a neon safety vest can be seen walking up to the door to wipe away any finger prints.
According to the girl’s mother, the suspects took several items, including jewelry and cash.
“About $5,000 in cash,” the mother said. “We were going to buy my daughter a new car.”
Detectives are investigating whether the robbery was targeted.
