Billy Joe Saunders and Willie Monroe Jr. are set to square off Saturday in a WBO middleweight title bout, but one side is already taking cheap shots as Saunders’ seven-year-old son, Stevie, punched Monroe in the groin.
Monroe put his hand on Stevie Friday during the weigh-in to rub his head in what appeared to be a friendly gesture, which is when the boy punched his dad’s opponent and added a kick before security dragged him away.
Saunders later defended his son’s actions on Twitter, saying he taught him to punch strangers when they put their hands on him.
My sons been taught when A stranger puts their hands on them they don't know punch and run away self defence @boxnationtv @frankwarren_tv👍🏻
