ESPN’s Rex Ryan Responds to Geno Smith ‘Coward’ Comments With a Chin Joke

Last week, New York Giants quarterback Geno Smith called former head coach Rex Ryan a “coward” in response to the now-ESPN analyst’s criticism of the Giants benching Eli Manning for Smith.

Ryan responded Sunday on ESPN’s “NFL Countdown” with a shot at Smith’s chin, which was broken in 2015 by former Jets teammate IK Enemkpali in a dispute, calling it “soft.”

“I’m not going to say anything because I’m 54 years old,” Ryan said, picking up a marshmallow. “Although this might be Geno’s chin, I’m not sure, a little soft. That chin’s a little soft there, Geno.”

The Jets quickly released Enemkpali after his incident with Smith. Ryan’s Buffalo Bills later signed him and then used him as a team captain when they faced the Jets.
