CNN’s Miller: It Would Be to Trump’s Credit if He Lifted Travel Ban As It Applies to Iran

On Monday’s “CNN Newsroom,” CNN Global Affairs Analyst Aaron David Miller argued that it would be to President Trump’s credit to lift the travel ban as it applies to Iran to send a message that the US’ door is open during the protests in the country.

After Miller suggested removing the travel ban with respect to Iran as a possible action, anchor Brianna Keilar asked Miller if he could imagine the president actually doing that.

He responded, “I can’t, but I mean, it would be to his credit, in order to send an unmistakable message that America’s door is open in the face of what’s happening in Iran, or to work on and with social media companies to ensure that social media, Instagram, Twitter, and the telegram — and the app Telegram remain open. 48 million Iranians now have cell phones. In 2009, only a million did.”
