FS1’s Sharpe: Mychal Kendricks’ Signing Despite Legal Issues ‘Reeks of Hypocrisy’ with Kaepernick

Friday on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed,” co-host Shannon Sharpe lamented the “hypocrisy” in the Seattle Seahawks signing linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a one-year deal despite him pleading guilty to charges of insider trading.

“I’m not going to say that someone shouldn’t accept a job, but this reeks of hypocrisy, Skip,” said Sharpe. “Kendrick is good enough to play in the NFL, but so was [Kaepernick]. But they view what Kap did as a greater offense than what Kendricks did. And this is not to disparage Kendricks, because clearly he can still play. But he’s not an All-Pro. They’re making it seem like Colin Kaepernick, he’s not Tom Brady. He’s not Aaron Rodgers. Well, Mychal Kendricks isn’t like Luke Kuechly. He’s not Bobby Wagner. But he’s getting an opportunity to play. The NFL and its owners deem Colin Kaepernick’s silent protest during the playing of the National Anthem as a greater offense than the actual crime.”

He later quipped, “[T]he hypocrisy that’s going on with these 32 teams is utterly ridiculous and they insult my intelligence. Well, they’re trying to insult my intelligence.”
