Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) praised presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s potential Supreme Court justice list, released on Wednesday. One of Grassley’s constituents is a judge on the list.

“Trump has laid out an impressive list of highly qualified jurists, including Judge Colloton from Iowa, who understand and respect the fundamental principle that the role of the courts is limited and subject to the Constitution and the rule of law,” Grassley, who is from Iowa as well, stated in a press release. “Understanding the types of judges a presidential nominee would select for the Supreme Court is an important step in this debate so the American people can have a voice in the direction of the Supreme Court for the next generation.”

Michigan GOP Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel also praised Trump’s list for having two names familiar to the people of Michigan.

“It’s no surprise that Justice Joan Larsen and Judge Raymond Kethledge are on Donald Trump’s shortlist for potential Supreme Court nominees. These constitutional, rule-of-law jurists are great public servants for the people of Michigan, and would be a great addition to the highest court in the country,” Romney-McDaniel stated.
