Republican nominee Donald Trump was not on the presidential ballot in Washington, D.C. as of Thursday afternoon.

The ballot included only Democrat Hillary Clinton and Libertarian Gary Johnson in the presidential race. The Trump-Pence ticket was finally added after insiders expressed concern about the situation to Breitbart News.

The D.C. Republican Party blamed various paperwork-related complications that needed to be sorted out.

“Mr. Trump’s name will show up on Board of Elections website tomorrow,” D.C. GOP executive director Patrick Mara told Breitbart News Thursday before the name was added shortly after close of business.

“The RNC submitted paperwork last week (we have until September 1.) Required paperwork required hand signed documents by Mr. Trump and Governor Pence along with various notarized documents including paperwork from our three electors,” Mara said.

Mara described an excruciating process, courtesy of the D.C. government, to get “Donald Trump” on the ballot.

“The RNC submitted all the required paperwork last week and we have until September 1. I had to get the one GOP member of the Board of Elections to weigh in re: sending the RNC a receipt and actually noting Mr. Trump’s ballot access on the BOE website. It’s ridiculous,” Mara complained.
