President Barack Obama will meet with the family of Alton Sterling, who was shot and killed during a confrontation with Baton Rouge police officers in early July — as well as family members of the three law enforcement officers slain by an anti-cop gunman.

“Today, prior to departure from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, the President will meet with the family of Alton Sterling as well as the families of deceased and injured officers of the Baton Rouge Police Department and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office,” a White House official confirmed to reporters this afternoon after Obama visited victims of the historic floods in Louisiana earlier this month.

Obama’s visit takes place 37 days after anti-police gunman Gavin Long shot six law officers in Baton Rouge on July 17.

It is unclear exactly who the President will meet from the three families of officers shot in Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge police officers Montrell Jackson and Matthew Gerald were killed together with East Baton Rouge Sheriff Deputy Brad Garafola.

Obama condemned the violent actions by the shooter at the time of the attacks.

“We may not yet know the motives for this attack, but I want to be clear: there is no justification for violence against law enforcement,” Obama said after the attacks in July. “None.”
