Unhinged: 'Avengers' Director Spoofs Romney's Vision as a Zombie Apocalypse

The 2012 version of Barack Obama in no way, shape or form resembles the 2008 model.

Back then, Obama was about hope, change, bipartisanship, cheerful optimism and … well, distracting everyone from his actual record with all of the above. The new, hardly improved Obama reflects none of those pretend values.

Let’s not just blame Obama for a 180 degree change. Just look at his followers in Hollywood. “Girls” creator Lena Dunham is making creepy, sexualized video spots to help Obama win reelection. Sarah Jessica Parker says she will feel “enormous despair” should the Romney/Ryan ticket prevail rather than point to Obama’s robust economy recovery (because she can’t).

And then there’s “Avengers” director Joss Whedon. He’s fashioned a new political spoof aimed at taking down Mitt Romney.

“Like a lot of liberal Americans, I was excited when Barack Obama took office four years ago,” Whedon starts. He doesn’t follow that up with a list of Obama’s accomplishments, of course.

So he goes the comedy route, saying a Romney administration will bring on, wait for it, the zombie apocalypse.

Tongue in cheek? Sure. Silly, unhinged, devoid of facts and just plain absurd? To quote a certain Tea Party favorite, you betcha.

A Romney administration “will guarantee poverty, unemployment, over population, disease, rioting, all crucial elements in creating a nightmare zombie wasteland,” Whedon says.

He gets off a few cute zingers, but it’s as desperate as Barbra Streisand sending SOS letters to Democrats begging for campaign donations.

Obama is fading, and his Hollywood pals are left to demonize the Romney/Ryan ticket rather than reminding us the next four years of Hope and Change will be just like the first.

Nobody wants that.
