The Obama White House has been hit with its third major scandal in as many days. Friday we learned that the Administration was much more involved than admitted with the editing of the CIA talking points surrounding Benghazi. We also learned that the IRS was targeting conservative groups.
Three days later, on Monday afternoon, we are being told that the Obama Justice Department “obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press.”
The Justice Department obtained information on 20 different telephone lines assigned to AP reporters that…
…listed incoming and outgoing calls, and the duration of each call, for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and the main number for AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP.
Moreover, the AP reports that according to the Justice Department’s own rules, subpoenas of records involving news organizations must be “personally approved,” by the Attorney General, Eric Holder.
Whether that was the case here or not is not yet known.
