Report: NBA Union Chief Received $1.3 Million for 'Unused' Vacation Time

NBA union chief Billy Hunter has been accused of negligently misusing union funds and receiving a $1.3 million payout for allegedly “unused vacation time” that totaled 146 days.

According to an independent investigation, Hunter received this payment with an independent review of the matter or telling the union he was receiving the payout:

Hunter received $1.3 million for “accrued but allegedly unused vacation time (146 days)” without providing an independent review of records or advice to the union on its obligation to make the payment.

The review, conducted by the Paul Weiss firm, found though Hunter did nothing technically illegal with union funds, he did enough “wrong that players should consider whether he should remain in his position.”
