March Madness: 295 Teams Left, Breitbart Sports Coverage of all Conferences

Buffalo Wild Wings latest basketball theme commercial portrays an NCAA tournament expanded to 256 teams, giving even mediocre teams a theoretical chance to win the title. In fact, that is already done, we just call the first rounds of the tournament “Conference Tournaments,” and after Wednesday’s action, 295 of the 347 Division 1 schools are still alive. Breitbart Sports is your source for results on all 31 Conference tournaments, as we cover the tournament beginning with the First Round results and the ratings of the top 8 players and teams in each conference. Just scroll down and look for the “brackets” graphic to find your tournaments and see which teams make the official NCAA tournament.

To see which 22 teams were eliminated before the conference tournaments started click here. That left 325 teams “in” the tournament via the chance to win their conference tournament.

Tuesday seven more teams were eliminated by losing opening round games in the Big South (click here) and Horizon League (click here) to cut the tournament field down to 318.

Wednesday another 23 teams were eliminated as five new conferences started play.  You can click on each of the following conference links to see who the favorites and the teams eliminated in the Atlantic Sun (4 teams eliminated), Northeast Conference (8), Ohio Valley Conference (6), Patriot League (4), and West Coast Conference (1).

There are 24 more conferences that still need to tip off with first round games, but the tournaments this week are more important because it is the only chance for most teams to get a bid.  The Power Conferences (BCS) next week in most cases are won by any number of teams that would make the tournament with an at-large bid regardless.
