Oregon State basketball coach Craig Robinson, who is the brother of First Lady Michelle Obama and brother-in-law of President Barack Obama, was reportedly fired over the weekend after six underachieving seasons at Corvallis where his teams finished 93-104 with no trips to the NCAA tournament.
Sports Illustrated‘s Pete Thamel reported that Robinson, who “had reportedly received support from Oregon State’s administration” and has three more years on a contract that still owes him $4 million, was fired on Saturday.
Robinson, after a successful stint as the basketball coach in the Ivy League at Brown, took over the Beavers in the 2008-09 season while his brother-in-law was campaigning to be president on his “hope and change” platform.
