Obama to CBS: Campaign 'Still About Hope' and Even More 'Change'

In the first part of the his interview with CBS, President Barack Obama said his only regret during his first term was not selling his unpopular policies better to the American people.

In the second part of the interview in the White House’s Blue Room that aired on Sunday, Obama told CBS’s Charlie Rose that he wants to see even more change in Washington in his second term. Of course, since Obama would not be facing reelection in a second term, he would not need to tell more of the stories he regrets not telling in his first term, and one can only imagine the changes Obama has in mind to transform and bankrupt the country even more with his Chicago-style liberalism. 

“I tell people, ‘This campaign’s still about hope.’ If somebody asks me, it’s still about change,'” Obama told CBS.

His campaign’s actions in recent weeks say otherwise. Not able to run on his unpopular and failed record on the economy, Obamacare, and crony capitalistic green energy gambles that went belly-up like Solyndra, Obama has done everything to make the 2012 election a referendum on Mitt Romney. Obama knows that if the 2012 election is solely a referendum on his record, he will lose. 

In 2008, Obama entranced audiences with talk of “hope,” “change” and “transformation.” 

But in his first term, Obama has embraced everything Americans hate about Washington — partisan politics, deceit, cronyism — while making Americans less optimistic and more uncertain about the country’s economy as his reckless spending has increased the debt by trillions of dollars instead of cutting it in half, as he promised. 

But Obama still seems oblivious to much of this and does not realize that he has been at the root of the problem he is purportedly seeks to change. 

“…I haven’t been able to change the atmosphere here in Washington to reflect the decency and common sense of ordinary people – Democrats, Republicans, and independents – who I think just want to see their leadership solve problems,” Obama said to CBS. “And, you know, there’s enough blame to go around for that.”

At a “Patriots in the Park” Tea Party event in Michigan yesterday, Sarah Palin demolished Obama’s failed record in his first term and pilloried Obama’s “hope and change” slogan.

“If that’s what you call hope, then we want change,” Palin said.
