Thousands of Young Illegal Immigrants Line Up for Amnesty Nationwide

President Barack Obama’s executive order on illegal immigration went into effect on Wednesday, and the nation’s biggest cities — and some of its most important swing states — saw lines of illegal immigrants who lined up to get a work permit for two years if they met certain qualifications.

Illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children, are under 30 years of age, do not have a criminal record, have documentation that they arrived before their 16th birthday, and have been a U.S. resident for five years may qualify.

Approximately 1.2 million illegal immigrants may be eligible for temporary amnesty.

In Southern California, The Los Angeles Times reports:

Lines of eager young people and their families began forming before daybreak outside the offices of the Coalition for Humane Immigrants Rights of Los Angeles, spokesman Jorge-Mario Cabrera said. The group plans a 9 a.m. ceremony at the offices at 2533 W. 3rd St. to welcome the policy change and hold informational sessions for applicants.

Similarly, illegal immigrants lined up in key swing states such as Florida, Colorado, Virginia, and North Carolina. These states, along with Iowa, Nevada, and New Mexico have enough Hispanic voters to potentially tip a very close election to Obama, if Hispanics swing toward him en masse.

In other blue states like New York and Illinois, thousands more lined up to apply for temporary status.

Mainstream media organizations like CNN and Time magazine are helping Obama by not reporting the fact that Obama essentially made law by fiat, but instead pointing out that these illegal immigrants are still fearful their parents could be deported if they come forward and that the temporary status only lasts for two years.

The mainstream media’s message seems to be to Hispanics: you must vote for Obama if you want a more permanent form of amnesty.
