Obama 'Couldn't Be Prouder' of Rice

As controversy rages over U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, her messaging in the wake of the Benghazi terrorist attack on 9/11, and her potential nomination as the next Secretary of State, President Obama continues to laud the embattled official.

President Obama effusively praised Rice on Wednesday, saying, “Susan Rice is extraordinary. I couldn’t be prouder of the job she’s done.”

This does make sense. Why shouldn’t Obama be proud of Rice? After all, she was the loyal soldier, parroting the Administration line about a YouTube video being responsible for the terrorist attack in Benghazi on five Sunday talk shows just days after the attack. And if necessary, as is traditional with Obama allies, she will fall on her sword for him.

Obama, of course, has taunted Republican critics of Rice to “go after me,” which is hilarious, since he hid behind Hillary Clinton’s skirt, the CIA’s supposed involvement, and anyone else he could find to finger as his surrogate. Remember him saying, “For them to go after a U.N. ambassador who had nothing to do with Benghazi and was simply making a presentation based on intelligence that she had received, and to besmirch her reputation, is outrageous”?

First of all, what did Rice have to do with the matter to begin with? This was a White House and State Department affair. She had no business speaking of it at all, unless her job was to placate anti-American Islamists abroad. Oh…

And second, if Obama were the man he pretends to be, he would simply testify before Congress and tell the truth.

But in the meantime, we are subjected to Obama’s stonewalling and arrogance and superciliousness. Obama may say he couldn’t be prouder of the job Rice has done, but we could certainly be prouder of the president of the United States.
