Congresswoman to Ask Sec. Clinton About Unarmed 'Security' at Benghazi Hearing

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, (R-FL), Chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, plans to ask Secretary of State Hillary Clinton why U.S. diplomatic security agents in Benghazi were not initially armed when the attacks on the embassy compound happened. The Congresswoman will address Secretary Clinton in a hearing to take place on Thursday.

It should be noted that a State Department report praised the capabilities of the diplomatic security detail in Benghazi a few months before the attack happened.

Breitbart News first reported on Tuesday that Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said, “I have concerns about the defense put up by diplomatic security,” when asked about security personnel not firing a single shot in return when the Embassy
compound was under attack.

Diplomatic security agents did not have their M4 submachine guns on them as the attacks in Benghazi happened. They needed to go to a separate building to get their weapons and tactical gear; however, only one of the agents was able to return to Ambassador Chris Stevens, testified Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb on Capitol Hill to the House Oversight Committee in October.
