Five Shot in Gun-Free Zone in New Orleans

Five Shot in Gun-Free Zone in New Orleans

Reports indicate five people were shot outside a grocery store along the route for New Orleans’ MLK parade today.

The shooting took place approximately 15 minutes after the parade itself had passed. Footage from a security camera showed the attacker opening fire from a vehicle on people standing outside a grocery store near the intersection of MLK Boulevard and Lasalle Street.

No life-threatening injuries were reported; the shooter was seen fleeing the scene in a late-model white vehicle.

How this happened is anyone’s best guess, since routes for government-sanctioned parades are designated gun-free zones by Louisiana law.
