McConnell: Obama Inaugural Means 'Era of Liberalism Is Back'

Ripping into President Obama’s second inaugural address, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said today that Obama’s speech was a declaration of the end of the era of small government. “One thing is clear from the president’s speech: The era of liberalism is back,” said McConnell. “His unabashedly far-left-of-center inaugural speech certainly brings back memories of the Democratic Party in ages past. If the president pursued that kind of agenda, obviously it’s not designed to bring us together, and certainly not designed to deal with the transcendent issue of our era, which is deficits and debt.”

McConnell’s comments suggest that the Congress is headed for gridlock. President Obama is obviously unwilling to compromise, and the Republican Party clearly recognizes Obama for the radical he is.
