According to Pete Williams of NBC News, the Boy Scouts of America are “actively” considering falling onto a trap Leftists have been trying to push them into for years now. Make no mistake, this Left-wing crusade to pressure the Boy Scouts into accepting openly gay scout leaders has nothing to do with “equality” and everything to do with destroying yet another traditional American institution:
The Boy Scouts of America, one of the nation’s largest private youth organizations, is actively considering an end to its decades-long policy of banning gay scouts or scout leaders, according to scouting officials and outsiders familiar with internal discussions.
If adopted by the organization’s board of directors, it would represent a profound change on an issue that has been highly controversial — one that even went to the US Supreme Court. The new policy, now under discussion, would eliminate the ban from the national organization’s rules, leaving local sponsoring organizations free to decide for themselves whether to admit gay scouts.
If you were the parent of a young daughter, would you let her join a group that allowed grown men to supervise that group, including overnight camping trips?
If you were the parent of a young boy, would you let him join a group that allowed grown women to supervise that group, including overnight trips?
I can’t imagine any decent parent thinking it’s a good idea to allow an adult of one gender to be in charge of a group of young children of the opposite gender, especially overnight.
Then why would any parent think it would be okay to put a gay male scoutmaster into a position of authority over a group of young boys?
People are going to try and claim that I’m a homophobe for opposing this, or that I’m claiming gays are all child molesters, when that’s not at all what I’m saying.
What I am saying is that because people are people, a gay male scoutmaster should not be supervising a bunch of young boys anymore than a straight male scoutmaster should a bunch of young girls.
This is common sense, and those who have been putting unbelievable social, political, and legal pressure on the Scouts know this. But again, just like same-sex marriage, the goal here is not equality.
The long-term goal of the same-sex marriage push is to destroy the church through charges of discrimination when they refuse to perform same-sex marriages. Soon, probably within our lifetime, the church will have to choose between accepting gay marriage or closing.
Laugh away, but fascism always creeps and this is a goal the Left comes closer to reaching every day. This very day, Obama’s forcing Catholic institutions to fund abortion pills through insurance coverage — something that would’ve been unthinkable just four years ago.
Also, as we’ve seen time and again in the media just this past week, preaching what the Bible says is now being declared de facto bigotry.
The Left’s goals are enormous, but to achieve those goal they wage a war of inches.
Gay scoutmasters will unsettle parents for the perfectly valid reasons mentioned above, and over time this will either erode the Scouts membership into nothing or turn the organization into something unrecognizable.
Either way, the Scouts’ cultural impact will implode and the Left wins.
