Obama: Pelosi 'Never Lets Ideology Cloud Her Judgment'

After cutting 5% from his annual salary in solidarity with federal workers, President Obama spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars this week to fly out to California to fundraise for the 2014 election cycle. While in California, he suggested that he could get more done with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House than he can with John Boehner (R-OH). “She has been an extraordinary friend of mine,” he said, “but more importantly, she’s a friend to working families all across the country each and every day. I could not be prouder of her, and I expect that she is going to be once again the Speaker of the House …. She never lets ideology cloud her judgment.”

After participating in this odd delusion, Obama said, “Realistically, I could get a whole lot more done if Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House.” That is a truly frightening thought to millions of Americans who are tired of footing the bill for vast bureaucratic nightmares like Obamacare.

More importantly, Obama’s entire political strategy at this point is built around winning back the House in 2014. He has no interest in passing widely-popular legislation. He would prefer to propose such legislation, then add poison pills to the actual bills, forcing Republicans to block them. He can then claim that Congress is obstructionist, and encourage Americans to vote Republicans out. That’s the reason he has placed obstacles in the way of immigration reform by failing to create any real measures for border security. It’s why his own Senate won’t take up his gun control proposals. Obama only wins politically when he is unable to pass legislation. Then, when he has a majority in the House, he will go for broke.
