Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said recent revelations that the IRS targeted conservative and Tea Party groups will damage the Obama administration, as Americans will not accept government officials deliberately and maliciously using the the government against them.
On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot Channel 125, Rumsfeld said the “American people don’t want the government turned against them.” He said the “idea that an institution that powerful, that frightening can turn on the American people and use that power against them” would “really deeply disturb” Americans.
Speaking on reports that officials in the Treasury Department knew that the IRS was being investigated for targeting conservatives before the 2012 election, Rumsfeld also suggested the Obama administration hid the truth in order to win reelection.
