Report: Villaraigosa Spent 15% of Time as Mayor on City Business

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who is likely to run for governor of California after his term as mayor expires next month, has wasted the vast majority of his time as mayor, according to the L.A. Weekly.

In 2012, Villaraigosa spent 42 percent of his official work time on out-of-town travel, including 18 locations in just under four months. Another 18 percent of his time was not identified to any particular purpose. Another 9 percent was blacked out or marked “private time.” Add to that 15 percent of his time on “largely ceremonial or public-relations endeavors.”

Just 15 percent of his time was spent on city business.
