BRIDGEPORT, Conn., May 23 (UPI) — U.S. and local authorities Thursday arrested five men in a $5 million Fairfield, Conn., jewel heist in April.
Timothy Forbes, 31, William Davis, 25, and Jeffrey Houston, 26, all of Allentown, Pa.; Kasam Hennix, 39, of Easton, Pa.; and Christopher Gay, 27, of Bronx, N.Y., were arrested and charged with conspiring to commit kidnapping, violation of the Hobbs Act by moving stolen property across state lines and using a firearm in a crime of violence, the Connecticut Post reported.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Houston and Gay appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkle in Bridgeport, Conn., and were held without bond. Forbes, Davis and Hennix were expected to appear before a federal magistrate in Connecticut next week.
The federal kidnapping and robbery charges stem from an April 1 holdup at the Lennox Jewelers on Black Rock Turnpike in which $4 million to $5 million in watches and jewelry was stolen. Video surveillance captured armed robbers forcing kidnapped employees to open the store.
