According to The Hill, Vice President Joe Biden responded to the Supreme Court’s Prop 8 ruling by predicting “we’re on the verge of seeing America move even further” on same-sex marriage.
He said the court’s ruling represented “a great day for every gay and lesbian couple and it should be a great day for ever straight couple in America.” He believes the decision put “us on the road to absolute fairness and equity.”
Said Biden: “I think we’ll see the day when it is no longer a debate about whether or not same-sex couples can be married and whether or not they deserve every single civil right every other married couple deserves.”
Biden said the American people are leading “political leadership” on this issue–that Americans are ready to move further on same-sex marriage if politicians will only join them.
