Gettysburg 150th Commemoration Begins

Gettysburg 150th Commemoration Begins

Tomorrow at 4 PM EDT, Breitbart TV will begin live-streaming a week of coverage of the events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.

The fighting that took place July 1-3, 1863 at Gettysburg, PA was seminal for the Union forces during the Civil War. On those days, the blood of cousins and the blood of brothers ran together as fields were covered with the bodies of the wounded and the dead.

It was a setting where even survivors at times found themselves buried beneath a heap of the dead. And it marked the point where the Confederacy’s push northward was turned back.

With the 150th anniversary of this battle upon us, approximately 20,000 Civil War reenactors will make their way to Gettysburg to live out aspects of the battle again. CNN reports that hundreds of thousands of Americans will converge on the the Gettysburg National Military Park “to mark the 150th anniversary of the three-day clash, which [resulted] in an amazing 51,000 casualties.”

Throughout the coming week, Breitbart News will be commemorating this 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg

As part of this commemoration, Breitbart TV will host 20 hours of live coverage of some of the 400 events planned in Gettysburg over the next 10 days.

This includes 6 hours of coverage on June 30 for the Opening Ceremony (4 PM to 7 PM EDT), Concert (7 PM to 8:30 PM EDT), and the Illumination of the Gettysburg National Military Cemetery (8:30 PM to 10 PM ST).

There will be eight hours of coverage of the Pickett’s Charge Re-Enactment with 20,000 reenactors on July 7. This coverage will begin with commentary from subject matter experts (11 AM to 1 PM EDT). But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we can not consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.
