San Jose Police to Record Race of Everyone Stopped

Under a new stop and question policy in San Jose, California, officers will be ordered to record the race of every person who undergoes such treatment, as well as the race of every person they force to “curb sit,” not merely arrest. The goal: to determine if San Jose police are racially profiling. The new policy is a response to complaints from citizens about minorities being targeted in non-traffic situations.
