On Monday, the George Zimmerman defense called Officer Christopher Serino, the lead detective in the case. He testified that he played Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy, the tape of the neighbor’s 911 call containing screams from the fight between Zimmerman and Martin – and that Tracy Martin said that it was not his son’s voice calling for help on the tape.
According to Serino, he played all the recordings from that night for Martin, and that Martin said under his breath, “no,” when asked whether Tracy Martin’s voice was screaming “help” on that tape. The prosecution suggested that the “no” was an ambiguous statement describing Tracy Martin’s emotion at hearing the shooting of his son on audio. On re-cross, the defense got Serino to clarify that the “no” was indeed in response to the question about the identity of the person screaming on the tape. Serino also testified that Brandy Green, the fiancee of Tracy Martin, did not contradict Tracy Martin’s answer about Trayvon’s voice.
