Former Political Opponent Says Embattled San Diego Mayor Has 'No Sense of Honor'

As the news continues to be filled with allegations of sexual harassment against San Diego Mayor Bob Filner (D, above) and his refusal to step down from office, his former congressional opponent, Nick Popaditch, says he is not surprised in the least.

Popaditch lost to Filner in a race for California’s 51st Congressional District in 2010 and then in 2012 Filner became the first Democrat Mayor of San Diego in 20 years.

Speaking to Breitbart News, Popaditch said: “[Filner] won’t step down, heck no. He has no sense of honor. In my dealings with him he was the most dishonest person I’ve ever dealt with. He’s been lying to the public for so long that it’s very comfortable for him.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, the allegations against Filner include claims that “he forcibly kissed two constituents and grabbed the buttocks and breast of a staff member.” The Times also reports that three former supporters, including former Democrat City Council member Donna Frye, are demanding Filner relinquish his office.

Frye says, “Bob Filner is tragically unsafe for any women to approach.”

Popaditch concurs with Frye, and believes her demands for Filner’s resignation will keep this alive much longer that Filner anticipated: “Frye is a very prominent Democrat, and she is pushing this train.” Nevertheless, Popaditch believes Filner will not step down. Rather, “they’re going to have to throw him out.”

According to CNN, Filner admitted he “has failed to fully respect the women who work for [him]” and has at times “intimidated them.” Said Filner, “I am clearly doing something wrong” and “I need help.”
