LGBT Groups Issue Statement of Support for Trayvon Martin

Thirty-five left-of-center lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) groups have released astatement regarding Trayvon Martin, saying, “[W]e will honor Trayvon Martin by strengthening our commitment to end bias, hatred, profiling and violence across our communities.”

The groups commitment to honor Martin by “ending bias and profiling” came just hours before Martin’s friend revealed that he had profiled Zimmerman as a gay “rapist.”

Rachel Jeantel, a key witness in the prosecution’s failed case against George Zimmerman, first made headlines when inconsistencies were revealed in her statements and after she made controversial statements when she testified Martin said he racially profiled Zimmerman as a “creepy ass cracka.”

Jeantel was a guest on Piers Morgan hours after the LGBT groups’ statement of support was released and claimed, “Definitely after I say might be a rapist, for every boy, for every man, every… who’s not that kind of way, see a grown man following them, would they be creep [sic] out?”
