Digital Media Set to Overtake TV Viewing

According to eMarketer, the amount of time Americans spend every day using digital media will overtake the time spent watching TV this year for the first time. Adults will average 5 hours each day online as opposed to 4 hours and 31 minutes watching TV. Online time will rise 15.8%; TV time will decline slightly.

Of the time spent online each day, the time spent on non-voice mobile units such as phones and tablets will average 2 hours and 21 minutes per day, even more than on desktop and laptop computers.

“Digital time” will rise from 11 hours and 39 minutes last year to 11 hours and 52 minutes this year.
