Catholic Organizations Receive 'Navigator' Grants To Promote Pro-Abortion ObamaCare

In addition to Planned Parenthood, Ascension Health, the largest Catholic and nonprofit health system, and Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Mobile, Alabama, have received federal “navigator” grants to enroll Americans in ObamaCare.

LifeSiteNews reports that Ascension Health received a $202,706 grant in Alabama and $165,683 in Kansas. Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Mobile received a $20,750 grant.

ObamaCare, however, requires employers – even religious employers – to provide free contraception, sterilization procedures, and abortifacient drugs to their employees through health insurance plans. President Obama’s signature legislation also requires a $1 abortion surcharge for the exchange programs.

While the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) supports universal healthcare, they ultimately objected to ObamaCare and many Catholic dioceses and organizations have sued the Obama administration over the HHS mandate. These two Catholic organizations, however, have applied for, and received, grant funds to enroll Americans into that to which the Church has objected.

American Life League’s Michael Hichborn commented, “The morally bankrupt provisions in ObamaCare make it impossible for any Catholic to support it, even in the best possible light.”

“By taking government funds to enroll people into ObamaCare, it is clear that as far as Ascension Health and Catholic Social Services of Mobile are concerned, money is more important than souls,” Hichborn continued. “If the Catholic faith is to survive Obama’s America, then sellouts like these must be reigned in by the shepherds of the Church.”
