GOP's Ellmers Blasts Heritage Action over Obamacare Funding Fight

Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) responded via Twitter on Friday to conservative group Heritage Action for pushing her and other Republicans to stand against funding Obamacare in the upcoming Continuing Resolution (CR).

“Why is @Heritage_Action spending $550K to attack conservatives but not @KayHagan who was a deciding vote on #Obamacare?” Ellmers tweeted on Friday afternoon. Ellmers is opposed to Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) to defund Obamacare in the upcoming CR.

“Should we stop #Obamacare? YES! But @Heritage_Action’s strategy w/ Continuing Resolution is WRONG,” Ellmers added in another tweet. Ellmers, like others opposed to Cruz and Lee, has not presented an alternative strategy to the plan of threatening a government shutdown if Obamacare isn’t defunded.

“Common Sense says defunding 3 months of HHS admin costs will not kill this impending economic disaster of a law,” Ellmers added in a followup tweet.

Ellmers also accused the conservative group of only wanting to raise money and wanting Democrats to retake the House.

“‘Those groups only care about raising money, they want Reps back in the minority in the House’ – comment to me re: @Heritage_Action,” she tweeted.
