SEIU Pres Calls for Immigration Reform on 'I Have a Dream' Anniversary

The president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) used her speech on the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech to call for comprehensive immigration reform.

Mary Kay Henry, the president of the SEIU labor union, said it was important to insist “that we prevail in winning common sense immigration reform.” She then called on workers to “join together” and support workers all across the country to demand a living wage.

The Senate passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill in June, and the Congressional Budget Office estimated that bill would lower the wages of the working class Americans that her union represents.
