Boehner on Leadership Criticism: 'I Just Let That S–t Roll Off My Back'

In a closed-door meeting Wednesday, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said, “people say a lot of things about [me],” but he just lets “that s–t roll off [my] back.”

According to The Hill, Boehner was meeting with GOP lawmakers when he said these things.

He reportedly also explained that he knew GOP lawmakers were among the critics. Thus, he said, those criticizing him included “people outside this room [and] people inside this room.”

Conservative Republicans do not think Boehner has fought hard enough for fiscal constraint, while Democrats say he is too closely aligned with the Tea Party.

Boehner said he puts both sets of criticism behind him and that he did not take the position of Speaker to get a “big office,” but to get things done.
