DC Mayor at Navy Yard Memorial Service: America 'Drowning in a Sea of Guns'

Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray politicized the memorial service for the victims of the Navy Yard shooting on Sunday to push for more gun control.

Gray blamed the shootings on a country that is “drowning in a sea of guns” and said he “will not be silent about the fact the time has come for action” on gun control.

“The Navy Yard, Sandy Hook, Aurora, Virginia Tech, Columbine, the streets of our cities – why is it that every time we seem to let ourselves become inured to the horrific violence that these places represent?” Gray said. “And these tragic occurrences never seem to move us any closer to ensuring guns don’t get into the hands of criminals or mentally unstable people.”
