82-year-old Salem, Oregon resident John Rose shot an intruder who broke into his home during the early morning hours of October 8.
According to Portland’s KATU, the break-in occurred around 6:15 a.m. when Rose and his 83-year-old wife, Mamie, were in the house.
Rose shot and wounded the intruder, whom Police Sgt. Chris Baldridge says “should survive.”
Baldridge said the suspect appeared to be “under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
Police have not been able to identify the suspect but “he will face burglary and trespassing charges” once he is released from the hospital.
