Feds to Use Blimps to Patrol Border

Federal border patrol agents will use blimps called “aerostats” along  U.S.-Mexico border in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley to track drug traffickers and illegal immigrants.

According to Fox News Latino, the new equipment will be set up in three locations and have “sensor equipment” that “is similar to what the Border Patrol already uses but will give the agency a greater viewing area.”

The balloon-like devices will supplement the Predator drones that currently serve as the agency’s “eyes in the sky.” The federal government has denied reports that the drones will be armed with weapons.
