NRA Goes 65-2 Against Bloomberg in VA Delegate Races

While national news focused on Ken Cuccinelli’s (R) loss to Terry McAuliffe (D) in Virginia’s November 5th elections, NRA-backed VA delegates were literally blowing out delegates backed by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

According to the Washington Examiner, the “NRA beat Bloomberg’s anti-gun group in 65 of 67 VA delegate races.”

The number of VA delegates with an “A” rating from NRA was at 63 following the 2011 elections. But after last weeks elections, the number of delegates with an “A” rating sits at 65.

In addition to the losses in Virginia, “nearly 10 percent of [the mayors in MAIG] retired from their job or were sacked in Tuesday’s elections” around the country.

Republican Darren Brown won the mayoral race in Chambersburg, PA, on November 5th. He says that upon taking office, one of his first moves will be “to get Chambersburg off the [MAIG] list.”
